Concept
Rouge arises from the challenge of intervening in an everyday object (the IKEA BLÅSVERK lamp) to provide it with a new layer of meaning through interaction. The project explores how light can evolve from a static element into a dynamic system that modulates its intensity and colorimetry based on human presence and ambient light. Painted entirely in red, the lamp does more than illuminate; it creates emotional atmospheres that adapt to the user's needs in real-time.
Technical development
The technical development of Rouge was based on integrating Arduino with light sensors (LDR) and physical buttons to manage four operating modes: ranging from basic on/off to a "gradual red light" mode that reacts to darkness. I performed a structural modification of the original object, drilling the support to hide the internal wiring and enhance the final aesthetic. I programmed the control logic to synchronize the RGB LED ring response with changes in ambient light, allowing the lamp to function both autonomously (reacting to the environment) and manually (through tactile user interaction).
