Concept

What happens when we choose to ignore our feelings? Fractured is an immersive experience that invites users to journey through their own minds. Through a neutral character, the player faces ten different emotions. The premise is simple: avoiding pain may seem like the easy way out, but it carries consequences. If the player chooses to avoid an emotion, the digital environment begins to shatter and degrade, reflecting real emotional decay. The goal is to make the user reflect on how their attitude toward their feelings shapes their well-being and reality.

Technical development

This project focused on UI design and the development of the physical controller. The main technical challenge was achieving seamless communication between Unity (C#) and Arduino, integrating hardware and software into a "gestural design" system. I designed and crafted a jacket equipped with a flex sensor to detect walking movements, an accelerometer for decision-making, and a vibration motor that provides haptic feedback when the world shatters. Additionally, I used AutoCAD to design the component enclosure for laser cutting, ensuring a functional and aesthetic integration of the electronics.

Tools

Software: Unity (Game Engine), Arduino IDE, AutoCAD (Laser Cut).

Hardware: Accelerometer, Flex Sensor, Vibration Motors (Haptics), Soldering.

Content: After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom.
