Concept
In a society that forces us to hide pain and accelerate the process of loss, CATARSIS emerges as a response to the lack of dedicated spaces for mourning. The project proposes an ephemeral installation that acts as a sanctuary of intimacy where pain is not avoided but experienced. Inspired by the ambiguity of the Igualada Cemetery and the "Law of the Mirror," the space seeks to materialize the invisible: emotions. It is a place designed for introspection, where users can see their own vulnerability reflected and finally allow themselves to process their pain in order to live again.
Technical development
For this final project, I developed a spatial proposal based on color psychology and optical manipulation. I used AutoCAD for technical drafting and SketchUp with V-Ray to generate renders that captured the atmosphere of the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The design is articulated through a system of mirrors and optical illusions that distort or clarify the space according to the user's position, reflecting their internal state. The work included everything from case study research to the development of illustrations and construction details, demonstrating my ability to design spaces with high conceptual and technical complexity.
